me: What friends of yours are extinct?
J: YOU KNOW! My friend Elvis is extinct. (said in a very DUH voice)
me: Elvis isn't extinct Jared, he's DEAD. Extinct means when there is no more of something around; like dinosaurs. There aren't any dinosaurs ANYWHERE.
J: Yeah, well, there isn't any Elvis anymore either, so he's extinct.
