I've been in five accidents, and NONE of them have been my fault. The first four times I got backed into (twice, I wasn't even IN my car when it got backed into, and the second time was by a school bus!). This is the first time I've been rear-ended, and it was a very scary experience. I think I wouldn't have been as shaken up had I not had my kids with me, but knowing that any one of them could have been hurt really shook me up! The people who witnessed the accident didn't stop to offer their help or to make sure everyone was okay before driving past the scene. The one person who DID stop a few minutes later was Emily's Kindergarten teacher, and she stayed with us the entire rest of the time, and even followed us home to make sure we made it safely.
Here are some pictures:
The back window is totally gone, minus a few very small sections still clinging on. There's glass all over in the car, too
The kids all seem fine, but I'm having some ride side and hip pain. I just got back from the doctor and have been prescribed muscle relaxers and pain meds. THe doctor said she could feel the back/side muscles spasming under her fingertips as she was feeling around. They think my injuries are becuase my foot was on the brake. I can move around, but my side and hip feel achey and sore and I have to move carefully when I bend or twist.
We're waiting to hear from the insurance adjuster before we can see about getting the van repaired. The girl's insurance company heard about the accident for the first time FROM US this morning, and they've been unable to get ahold of her today. SIGH
I'm going to take some of those pain meds and go relax. Bloggy friends, forgive me if I don't view and comment on your blogs today; I'm not up for it, and tomorrow is J's birthday so we'll be busy with him. I hope all of you are well and I will update when I feel better!!

Leah that is such a scarey thing... I hope you are feeling better really soon. And I can't believe that she didn't call her insurance company. Was her car damaged??
Yikes LEAH!! Feel better! XOXO!
That looks SO ugly! I hope your pain meds and relaxers help. Poor Leah! It is scary! Love you.
How scary!!! I hope you are feeling better. Hugs!
Oh, how horrible. I hope you guys will all be ok. I'm sorry you had to go through that. That REALLY stinks! I hope you feel better soon. ;0)
(Oh, and just because I used to be a legal secretary...if I were you, I would write down everything you remember about the accident while it's still fresh in your memory, just in case you are asked questions by their insurance company (or yours) later. It really does help, because you tend to forget little things that could possibly help.)
I am so glad you and the kids are okay.
Oh My - I'm so sorry about your car and so glad it wasn't worse than it was. I hope you recover and it's just spasms and nothing worse than that - you poor thing. You take it easy!! Your poor car too!
Take care - Kellan
Oh Leah! How scary. I would be shaken up to with the kids in the car. I think it is amazing when people don't help. I am glad someone came and helped you and that everyone is ok!
glad that you are all okay!!
This is the 3rd post today I have read about stupid people who won't take a moment out of their lives to stop and help someone else. What has this world come to? I always stop!!! I hope you are feeling better soon, being rear ended is no fun I feel your pain.
leah I am so sorry. what a crappy thing to go through. sending get well dust to you! and I'm so grateful no one was seriously injured.
WOW! That looks awful! I'm so sorry that had to happen to you & especially having the kids in the car. I worry about that with Jodi & her kids. When I was working (retired disability now), I was in "rush hour" (hmmm...slow hour) traffic & you know, stop & go, lightly (truly it was lightly) bumped the guy in front of me. He jumped out of the car, ran back to me & started yelling. Unfortunately, he had been drinking his coffee at the time I bumped him. No damage to the cars of course, but his suit & shirt were very messy. Oops!! My passenger broke out laughing. Of course I apologized. Hope you get feeling better soon!
