My current hobbies include sewing, knitting, and card-making. I thoroughly enjoy all three, get frustrated with all, and would probably take on a fourth hobby in a heartbeat if something sparked my interest. My husband isn't as thrilled with my hobbies as I am, however, and would probably consider divorce if I picked up another one (ha ha!). Now, on top of all my paper clutter (remember, I'm the clutter QUEEN!), I have bins of threads and bobbins, patterns, cloth scraps, ribbons, lace, etc. And I have bags of yarn and knitting needles, and printed out patterns I found online for free; along with projects in progress. AND I have bins of papers, scissors, glue dots, glue sticks, ribbons, embellishments, stamps, glitters, etc; not to mention the Cricut machine and the cartridges for die-cutting.
I don't sew very often these days, as most projects require time and space (for cutting out all the pieces, spreading things out for pinning, hemming, ironing seems, etc) and I find myself lacking in both requirements more often than not. I did, however, just recently make Emily a toothfairy pillow because she has TWO loose teeth on the bottom. It resembles something the purple lace fairy must have vomitted up, but Emily is huge into anything frilly froo froo, and this toothfairy pillow is most DEFINATELY frilly froo froo. She loves it.
I don't knit very often, because it takes some very serious concentration, and when you have three kids running around the house, it's a little hard to fully concentrate on the patterns. I started this blanket last winter and it's now currently three times bigger, but after a hospital stay in March, some recovery time, a very very very crazy busy summer, and I have NO CLUE where I left off in the pattern and probably zero hope of ever figuring out. So probably this blanket is garbage, but it WOULD have been a cool baby blanket!
I knitted this scarf for Emily while on vacation at the ocean (scarves don't take very long and she begged every so sweetly for it...LOL)
I recently knitted this little hat for a friend's baby (Em's "boy baby" is the model)
Card-making...Well, I do that probably weekly. There are lots of opportunities to give cards, it's something I can do generally in under an hour, and it's something that doesn't require extreme concentration, or lots of space (I need lots of space to make the card, but it's not something that has to be left out for days to be worked on like a sewing project). I do have to admit that my card-making supplies have been out for over a week. But that's because I've had a lot of cards to make this week and it seems silly to pull it all out and put it all away and pull it all out again... My husband wishes I would though!
These are some of my favorites. I don't always remember to take pictures of the cards I make, so some of my very very favorites are undocumented.
I have several new ones I'm very pleased with, but they haven't yet been sent out to the intended recipient and I can't spoil the fun for them so am unable to share those cards at this time.
